Two years ago I began documenting the sweets and assorted things I've gotten in lieu of change (of the shop owner/assistant's choosing) in India. It's a fascinating phenomenon to me, and I'm both outraged and amused at how commonplace a practice it is. I've gotten candy currency everywhere from government-run toll booths to chemists and grocers to the local tobacconist. I recently decided to start sharing them with the hashtag #changeyoucaneat on instagram. Send me your submissions!
